The Showreel
I decided to upload my reel to vimeo instead of You Tube. I just feel it's more professional and presentable.
Thought it would be best to pick some music with a fun/uplifting beat. Many of the showreel examples for concept/character I have observed have a slow pace, and I lost interest quickly. I also edited all my images to fit the 1080p frame, and not have awful letterboxing, which I think looks unprofessional.

Frame by Frame Character Animation
This was my first attempt at some 'proper' frame by frame animation. So I decided to start with having a character react to something. So I quickly designed a cat that could exhibit extreme cartoon expressions, so that I could emphasise the squash and stretch.
I examined the work of digital animator Harry Partridge, and referred to Richard Williams "Animator's Survival Guide" to guide me through blocking out the poses, and putting the animation together as a whole.
I think the shoulders are still a little off, and everything settles at the same rate. I should have had the whiskers wiggle a little more.

The Incredible Derp - Storyboard work
This was my first ever professional storyboarding project. I was put in touch with Robert Knorr, as he needed a board artist for his latest animation short, 'Epic Rage Time', featuring the fan favourite background pony named Derpy, featured in Hasbro's hugely popular TV series, 'My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic'.
I learned so much from taking part in the project, especially with regards to dealing with deadlines! It's evident that my style of drawing fluctuates as I progress. After some practice, I became cleaner, more confident, and more efficient towards the end. But there's still massive room for improvement

Link to the Boards
With a 2 day limit to get ALL of the boards for the first short done (as the project deadline was only 3 weeks away, and we needed to build all the assets, and puppets), these boards are a little rough, but they did the job.
Raymond Investigates features the voice (and character) of celebrity chef Raymond Blanc, and was commissioned by the 'MSC' (http://www.msc.org/)

Character designs/Development
I approached the clients with a range of Raymond designs, and they chose their preferred design. Thus, the flash puppet building begun!
backgrounds
These are some of the original backgrounds. The clinets wanted a kind of paper/hand drawn look, but this was later changed down the pipeline, to a more digital illustrated look.
Jump Designs - Concept art
I was approached by 3rd year motion graphics student Rhys Clarke, to help out with a pitch towards company Jump Design (http://www.jumpdesign.co.uk/). They were looking for ideas to create a new Christmas ad. I created some atmospheric boards, whilst Rhys explained his idea...and we got the job!
Deadman's Reach - Animation clean-up
I met Quentin Vien, previously head animator at Passion Pictures, and offered to help out on his personal project "Deadman's Reach" (http://www.kweninlondon.com/). Here are a 'handful' of frames I cleaned up for him in his style of drawing.
Warrior Cats - Character Design
An idea I pitched to Sony regarding Erin Hunter's hugely popular book series "Warriors" (http://www.warriorcats.com/), and they loved the idea, and were ready to make an offer to push it to a full animated feature. Sadly the novels have been optioned out currently, but this may change in the future, and I'll be ready to pounce on the chance to help make the films.
Conquering tide - Concept/Character Design
Conquering Tide is officially over 16,000 fans strong now. I was a story I wrote back in 2008, and have been developing ever since. I'm looking to produce it as a free webcomic, and generate revenue from merchandise being sold on the site.
Additional/Personal work
I included in the showreel a handful of personal projects, just to add a little extra in the last few seconds.
Concept work for Alistair's Volcano
This is the concept work I produced for a fellow student during the digital environment project. As pretty as the painting is on photoshop, the thumbnails were all that was needed for the modeller, really.
I need to work on my realism, as I have a tendency to stylize.
